Description
The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plant Operations – 180 Excavator is intended for plant operators who already hold a red trained operator card under CPCS or NPORS and are operating 180-degree backhoe loaders. This qualification provides a recognised route to upgrading to a blue competent operator card, confirming your skills in operating this type of machinery safely and efficiently.
Assessment is based entirely on your normal working activities, including tasks such as excavation, loading and grading, use of front and rear attachments, and manoeuvring on-site. You’ll also demonstrate key competencies in daily maintenance checks, risk assessment, and communication with other site personnel.
There are no exams or classroom elements. Instead, you’ll build a portfolio of evidence using on-site observation, professional discussion, and documentation such as pre-start checklists, toolbox talks, daily briefings, photos, and method statements. This NVQ confirms your operational competence and ensures compliance with industry standards.
