Description
The Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations – Overhead Crane is for operators who already hold a red trained operator card under CPCS or NPORS and are ready to upgrade to a blue competent operator card. This qualification confirms your ability to operate an overhead crane safely, efficiently, and in line with site procedures and industry legislation.
Suitable for operators working with pendant-controlled, cab-controlled, or remote-controlled overhead cranes, the NVQ assesses your ability to prepare the crane for lifting, carry out lifting operations, communicate effectively, and maintain health and safety standards.
Assessment is carried out on-site and based entirely on your real work activities. Your portfolio will include observation, professional discussion, and supporting documentation such as lift plans, risk assessments, and daily checks. There are no exams or classroom sessions — the qualification is built around your role and experience.
Completing this NVQ enables you to progress in your role and meet CPCS or NPORS requirements for the blue competent operator card.
