The Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations – Movement Guide is designed for operatives working as vehicle marshals, plant guides, or traffic banksmen who already hold a red trained operator card under CPCS or NPORS. This NVQ allows you to upgrade to a blue competent operator card, confirming your skills in directing vehicle and plant movements safely on-site.
You’ll be assessed in your actual working environment while carrying out activities such as guiding plant and vehicles into position, maintaining visual contact, communicating clearly with drivers, managing exclusion zones, and following safety protocols.
Assessment includes direct observation, professional discussion, and evidence such as site risk assessments, shift logs, photographic/video evidence, and task documentation. There are no exams or classroom sessions — just practical assessment based on the real work you do every day.
This qualification supports site safety and progression under the CPCS or NPORS scheme and helps formalise your competence as a movement guide.
