The Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations – Cranes and Specialist Lifting (Compact Crane) is designed for operators who hold a red trained operator card under CPCS or NPORS and are looking to upgrade to a blue competent operator card. This NVQ confirms your competence in operating compact cranes safely and effectively on site.
Compact cranes, often used in confined spaces and specialist lifting scenarios, require precision, planning, and a strong understanding of lifting procedures. This qualification covers the full range of operational responsibilities — from preparing and setting up the crane, conducting lifting activities, and communicating with the lifting team, through to shut-down procedures and safety compliance.
Assessment is completed in your real working environment with minimal disruption. You’ll be assessed through observation, professional discussion, and supporting evidence such as lift plans, pre-use checks, and risk assessments. There are no exams or classroom sessions involved.
