The Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations – Industrial Forklift Trucks (Counterbalance) is designed for operators currently working with counterbalance forklifts who hold a red trained operator card under CPCS or NPORS. Completing this NVQ enables you to upgrade to a blue competent operator card, confirming your ability to operate the equipment safely and competently in a real working environment.
This qualification covers the full scope of forklift operation — including pre-use checks, load handling, manoeuvring in tight spaces, stacking and de-stacking, working around pedestrians, and adhering to site-specific procedures and safety regulations.
Assessment is carried out in your normal working environment and includes on-site observation, professional discussion, and submission of supporting evidence such as maintenance records, risk assessments, and photographic or video documentation. There are no classroom sessions or exams, and the NVQ is built around the tasks you already perform.
Completing this NVQ ensures your skills are formally recognised and supports career progression while meeting the requirements for a CPCS or NPORS blue competent operator card.
