Description
This interactive course provides essential knowledge on safe manual handling, with a focus on UK legislation, HSE guidance and best practice. Learners will explore the risks associated with lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing and pulling loads, and understand how musculoskeletal disorders can be prevented through better planning and safer working techniques.
The course covers the legal framework, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992. Learners will be introduced to risk assessment methods such as the TILE/O approach and HSE’s MAC, RAPP and ART tools, supported by practical case studies from construction and other industries.
Through animations, scenarios and interactive exercises, learners will gain confidence in applying the MHOR hierarchy (avoid, assess, reduce), practising safe lifting and team handling techniques, and understanding their own responsibilities and those of their employer.
A final assessment ensures knowledge has been embedded, with successful learners receiving a certificate of completion.
