Description
The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations is aimed at skilled and experienced operatives who carry out advanced carpentry, joinery, and other wood-based trade activities. This qualification is ideal for those wishing to demonstrate their competence at a higher level, gain a nationally recognised qualification, and progress their career into supervisory or specialist roles within the construction sector.
Through this NVQ, you will demonstrate your ability to interpret complex drawings, set out and assemble timber components, and install wood products to precise specifications. Depending on your chosen pathway, this may include advanced site carpentry, architectural joinery, shopfitting, or wheelwrighting. You will also showcase competence in supervising work activities, checking quality standards, using tools and equipment safely and effectively, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Assessment is carried out in your workplace and based entirely on your real work performance. Evidence is gathered through direct observation, professional discussion, witness testimony, and portfolio submission. There are no written exams—your competence is assessed through the advanced practical skills and knowledge you demonstrate in a live working environment.
Successful completion of this qualification supports applications for the CSCS Gold Skilled Worker Card, providing industry recognition of your advanced skills and enhancing opportunities for progression into supervisory, specialist, or leadership roles within carpentry, joinery, and other wood occupations.
The maximum timescale for this qualification is 12 months, however this can be completed in as little as 4-6 weeks from induction.
