Upon completion of the NPORS Slinger Signaller course, delegates are required to undertake a two-part assessment to verify both theoretical knowledge and practical competence.

The theory assessment evaluates understanding of current legislation, site safety requirements, lifting operations, and environmental responsibilities.

The practical assessment measures the delegate’s ability to perform key operational tasks, including pre-use equipment inspections, directing and controlling load movements, attaching and detaching a range of loads, and completing post-lift checks and securing procedures in accordance with site and regulatory standards.

Certification Details

Successful candidates will receive an official NPORS certificate confirming their competence as a Slinger Signaller operator, valid for five years. Learners may also apply for the NPORS Operator Card, a recognised proof of qualification accepted across most UK construction sites. The card is site-ready, wallet-sized, and can display the CSCS logo if the Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test has been completed within the required timeframe. Refresher training is recommended prior to renewal to maintain compliance and ensure continued safe working practices.

Prerequisites

Before booking an NPORS course to be delivered on your site, please ensure that your training area meets NPORS requirements. The site must provide a safe and suitable space for both training and assessment, with appropriate ground conditions and access to the required equipment or machinery in good working order. All equipment must comply with current health and safety standards, and a site-specific risk assessment should be completed in advance. You’ll also need to provide adequate welfare facilities, ensure all delegates have the necessary PPE, and confirm that they meet any experience or qualification requirements for the chosen NPORS category.
