Description
The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Fabricating Steel Structures is aimed at experienced fabricators who work in the construction industry, producing and assembling steel components for buildings and civil engineering projects. This qualification is ideal for those wishing to demonstrate their occupational competence at an advanced level, gain a nationally recognised qualification, and progress their career within structural steelwork.
Through this NVQ, you will demonstrate your ability to interpret technical drawings, prepare and shape steel, fabricate assemblies, and ensure components meet required specifications. You will also showcase your competence in using fabrication tools and equipment, applying welding or cutting techniques, and following health and safety procedures in line with industry standards.
Assessment is carried out in your workplace and is based on your real work activities. Evidence is gathered through direct observation, professional discussion, witness testimony, and portfolio submission. There are no written exams—competence is proven entirely through your practical skills and knowledge in a live working environment.
Successful completion of this qualification supports applications for the CSCS Gold Skilled Worker Card, providing industry recognition of your advanced fabrication skills and enhancing career opportunities within steelwork and construction.
The maximum timescale for this qualification is 12 months, however it can be completed in as little as 4 weeks.
