Description
The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Formwork is aimed at construction operatives who are responsible for assembling, installing, and striking formwork systems used in concrete construction. This qualification is ideal for those wishing to demonstrate their competence, achieve a nationally recognised qualification, and progress their career within the formwork and concrete structures sector.
Through this NVQ, you will demonstrate your ability to prepare work areas, select and use materials, construct and assemble formwork to specification, and safely strip and remove formwork once concrete has set. You’ll also show competence in interpreting drawings, working accurately to measurements, using hand and power tools effectively, and following health and safety practices on-site.
Assessment is carried out in your workplace and is based on real work activities. Evidence is gathered through direct observation, professional discussion, witness testimony, and portfolio submission. No written exams are required—your competence is proven entirely through your practical skills and knowledge demonstrated on-site.
Successful completion of this qualification supports applications for the CSCS Skilled Worker (Blue) Card, providing industry recognition of your abilities and enhancing career opportunities in formwork and construction.
The maximum timescale for this qualification is 12 months, however it can be completed in as little as 4 weeks.
