The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Formwork is aimed at skilled and experienced operatives who construct, install, and dismantle formwork systems for concrete structures. This qualification is ideal for those seeking to demonstrate their competence at an advanced level, achieve a nationally recognised qualification, and progress into senior or supervisory roles within formwork and concrete construction.
Through this NVQ, you will demonstrate your ability to interpret technical drawings, plan and set out work areas, assemble and position formwork systems, and strike formwork safely once concrete has set. You will also showcase your skills in supervising formwork activities, checking quality standards, using tools and equipment effectively, and maintaining compliance with health and safety legislation on-site.
Assessment is carried out in your workplace and based entirely on your real work performance. Evidence is collected through direct observation, professional discussion, witness testimony, and portfolio submission. No written exams are required—competence is demonstrated through your practical skills and knowledge in a live construction environment.
Successful completion of this qualification supports applications for the CSCS Gold Skilled Worker Card, providing industry recognition of your advanced formwork skills and supporting career progression into supervisory and specialist roles within construction.
The maximum timescale for this qualification is 12 months, however this can be completed in as little as 4-6 weeks from induction.
