Description
The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Roofing Occupations is aimed at roofing operatives who carry out installation, repair, and maintenance work on different roofing systems. This qualification is ideal for those looking to demonstrate their occupational competence, achieve a nationally recognised qualification, and progress their career in roofing.
Through this NVQ, you will showcase your ability to prepare roofing surfaces, install roof coverings, apply insulation and underlay, fix tiles or slates, and maintain or repair existing roofs. Depending on your role, this may also include working with specialist roofing systems such as thatching, sheeting, or waterproofing. You will demonstrate your competence in interpreting specifications, working safely at height, using roofing tools and equipment effectively, and completing work to industry standards.
Assessment is carried out in your workplace and is based entirely on real work activities. Evidence is gathered through direct observation, professional discussion, witness testimony, and portfolio submission. There are no written exams—competence is proven through your practical skills and knowledge demonstrated on-site.
Successful completion of this qualification supports applications for the CSCS Skilled Worker (Blue) Card, providing industry recognition of your roofing skills and opening up further opportunities for career development within the construction sector.
The maximum timescale for this qualification is 12 months, however it can be completed in as little as 4 weeks.
